I am English language teacher originally from the UK now living in St. Gallen, Switzerland. I have been teaching EFL and EAP since 2008 in the UK, Barcelona and Busan, South Korea.

Why blog?

Over the past 3 years I’ve become more active online: through twitter (@GemL1), reading blogs by ELTs around the world and joining online chats such as #ELTchat. All of these have helped build and widen my personal learning network (PLN) something that has benefited me greatly. My motivation has soared, my knowledge / awareness of topics related to teaching has increased greatly and most importantly I’ve found an extra source of support and development.

Starting this blog was a way of sharing my reflections of both language teaching and learning as well as building on the connections I’d already made online. I have also added pages with information about the Trinity Diploma and MA in Applied Linguistics.

Lesson Plans:

Here are a couple of links to guest posts I’ve written for other blogs:

Room 101 lesson on the fantastic Alien Teachers blog.

Wear Sunscreen lesson on the equally great and useful Designer Lessons blog.
